NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday stated that the government is implementing measures to make the exam system “foolproof” and urged an end to partisan politics concerning the recent paper leaks that have emerged in various states. This call comes amidst opposition attempts to leverage the issue against the Centre. “Safety, security, and the future of the youth is our priority,” said parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju, quoting the Prime Minister during a meeting of the NDA parliamentary party.
Modi’s address, a regular occurrence during Parliament sessions, centered on the youth and the issue of paper leaks. He emphasized that the government will not hesitate to impose stringent punishments on those responsible for the NEET paper leak, stating, “Those responsible will not be spared.”
The Prime Minister highlighted the ongoing activities of gangs involved in paper leaks across multiple states, referencing the arrests of individuals linked to the NEET-UG paper leak, the re-conduct of the medical entrance test, and the prompt declaration of results. He also mentioned the enactment of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, which is the first central law aimed at tackling the issue of paper leaks.
Modi urged cooperation between states and the Centre to ensure not only strict punishment for the guilty but also to prevent future incidents of paper leaks. He remarked that “Dhurandhar” lawyers should ensure that the accused face justice and do not escape accountability, a comment interpreted by some MPs as a reference to prominent advocates in the opposition who represent anti-government activists.
During his address, Modi discussed the significant role of youth in India’s growth across various sectors. Union minister Chirag Paswan noted that the Prime Minister spoke about the need for correct guidance for the youth and shared success stories of young individuals who have brought pride to the nation both domestically and internationally.
Modi encouraged MPs to inform the public about the achievements of Indian startups, mentioning that French President Emmanuel Macron expressed admiration for their work during his recent visit to India. He also took a jab at opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, who is 56, while highlighting the average age of 28 among the team at Skyroot Aerospace, which recently achieved a successful rocket launch. “If they have done so well at 28, imagine how much they will achieve when they reach 56,” Modi remarked.
