The Centre informed the Delhi High Court that it does not oppose activist Sonam Wangchuk's transfer from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital, provided it follows doctors' approval. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta stressed that discharge should be based on medical advice, not Wangchuk's wishes, citing concerns about individuals attempting to remove him without regard for his health. The Delhi High Court will issue its order regarding the transfer, following an appeal from Wangchuk's wife against a prior ruling. Wangchuk remains under medical supervision after being admitted during a hunger strike.

A train-van collision in Murshidabad, West Bengal, resulted in the deaths of five people, including three school students and a cyclist.
